Music
City Catering hosts event in Brownsburg, Indiana
On
Saturday, February 21, 2004, 24 BBQ enthusiasts converged on
Brownsburg, Indiana to participate in a cooking class led by
Lee and Bobbie McWright of Music City Pig Pals. The class, which
was comprised of individuals from New York, Michigan, Ohio,
Illinois, Indiana, Tennessee, South Carolina, and Alabama, came
eager to learn tips and techniques from the McWrights, two seasoned
KCBS competitors/vendors who have won numerous awards.
The
class, which was sponsored by The Austin National Smoker Company,
focused on ribs and chicken. The topics highlighted in the
all day class included (1.) Preparation, Health and Hygiene,
Tools (2.) Recipes, Spices, Sauces (3.) Cooking, Time, Temperature,
Techniques and Fuels, and (4.) KCBS Presentation. By serving
as an introduction to the world of competitive barbecuing,
it is hoped that a few of the people who attended the class,
and were new to barbecue, might be competitors on the circuit
one day.
The
Austin National Smoker Company wants to extend a special thank
you to Fran and Judy Fry of The Frying Pan, as well as HomeBBQ.com’s
Kevin Bevington for their generous donation of rubs to all
who attended the class. The Austin National Smoker Company
looks forward to promoting future cooking classes in order
to introduce others to the world of barbecue.
